Multitrack Studio Recording

Track by track recording is by far one of the best ways to guarantee high quality, however it requires great discipline by performing artists. LV’s rates for multi-track recording are $30 per hour. As a general guideline, recording a standard song with 6 tracks (drum, bass, guitar, keys, vocal, soloist) will take approximately 2 hours to record and roughly 5 hours to mix for a total of 7 hours or around $200. Prices vary based on performer experience and the number of takes recorded … the less mistakes and material to edit means less time overall.

Live-Off-The-Floor Recording

Recording the whole band at once can save on recording time and allows artists to give their best performance in the comfort of a familiar stage-style setup, complete with visual queues from bandmates and the emotional intensity of performing together. This is a double edged sword however because “what you hear is what you get” and one glaring mistake from any performer can cost the group an otherwise perfect take. Groups with minimal studio experience are often better off using this technique to maximize results. As a general guideline, a standard song will take approximately 1 hour to record and roughly 3 hours to mix for a total of 4 hours or around $150.

Mobile Recording

While recording in your car is not beyond our abilities, what we mean by mobile recording is that LV will gladly pack up the rig and bring it to your studio, local, jam room, basement or anywhere that you feel comfortable to help make the recording experience as painless as possible for you. Recording rates for multitrack or live-off-the-floor are as described above … but you get to choose the place. Additional travel costs may apply for remote or distant locations, but the LV team is reasonable and may be coerced if there is excellent food involved.

Format Conversion

If you need a specific audio format but can’t seem to figure out how to get your audio to behave accordingly, chances are that we have had to resolve a similar format conversion issue and would be happy to help. If you are employing LV for any other services, conversion is almost always included free of charge. For stand alone audio format conversion requests, contact us and we may be willing to help you out for free if it is a small job. For larger requests, the LV hourly rate is $30 per hour.

Audio Restoration

The workstations at LV have logged countless hours of audio engineering time and we confidently welcome the opportunity to help get the most out of any pre-recorded audio tracks you would like restored. There is a minimum one hour charge ($30) for Audio restoration services and we stand by our estimates … if we go over the estimated time, that’s our problem not yours and we always respect the estimation price.

Localization

“All your base are belong to us” We can help localize your voiceover scripts, promotoinal texts or even song lyrics into properly contextualized North American English. Costs are $0.10 per word for standard text with slight increases applied for historical, technical or otherwise more complicated subject matter. We are experienced at making sure your meaning does not get lost in translation.
